You enter on grade with the earth that surrounds the home below, so it reads more like a standalone retreat than a shared building. The lower apartment has its own outdoor seating, fireplace, and hot tub — those are private to that rental and not part of your stay, but knowing they exist won't bother you either, since your spaces never overlap. The owner lives on the property in an adjacent Quonset hut — but don't let that worry you. The Quonset has no windows facing your rental, so in practice you'll likely never cross paths. It's the kind of setup where help is available if you need it, but privacy is the default. You'll have your own private driveway loop (fits 1–2 cars), and the whole setup feels tucked away and self-contained.
