Good to know

Your space is entirely your own. The duplex has two fully separate apartments — separate entrances, separate parking, separate living spaces — and you won't feel the lower unit at all. You enter on grade with the earth that surrounds the home below, so it reads more like a standalone retreat than a shared building. The lower apartment has its own outdoor seating, fireplace, and hot tub — those are private to that rental and not part of your stay, but knowing they exist won't bother you either, since your spaces never overlap. The owner lives on the property in an adjacent Quonset hut — but don't let that worry you. The Quonset has no windows facing your rental, so in practice you'll likely never cross paths. It's the kind of setup where help is available if you need it, but privacy is the default. You'll have your own private driveway loop (fits 1–2 cars), and the whole setup feels tucked away and self-contained. The space: -630 sq ft upper-level studio apartment -Simple, functional kitchen and full bath -East-facing windows — perfect for morning coffee on the church pew as the sun comes up -Original works by Tom Schulz hanging throughout — a painter with 50+ years of practice, an MFA from Tufts/School of the Museum of Fine Art, and teaching stints at Harvard and UNC Asheville. "Transition #13" and "Transition #14" — bold, abstracted landscapes painted after a vision loss diagnosis, built with broad strokes, masking, and plastering tools — bring real energy to the walls. These aren't prints. They're originals from an artist whose work sells in the thousands. Interested in purchasing? Just reach out through the messenger. Currently priced at $4,700 each. The location: 17 minutes to downtown Asheville (25 in traffic) — close enough to hit Biltmore Estate, the River Arts District, and all the food and music you came for, far enough to actually decompress when you're back. The bonus: On-site massage in the adjacent orangerie. 60, 90, and 120-minute sessions available — just ask at booking. Come basecamp. Come breathe. Come chill. 🏄 Exclusive Guest Perk: 10% Off Paddleboarding Our guests enjoy an exclusive discount with Wai Mauna SUP Tours — Asheville's most popular paddleboard outfitter on the French Broad River. Choose from 4-mile or 7-mile guided or solo trips, or a more secluded romantic route near Brevard where the riverbanks narrow for a more intimate paddle. Ask us after booking for the discount code! 🧖‍♀️ Exclusive Guest Perk: 10% Off The Relaxation Retreat Our guests enjoy an exclusive discount with The Relaxation Retreat — a private spa sanctuary just outside Asheville in the Blue Ridge Mountains. Unwind in a cedar Finnish sauna, marble steam room, copper soaking tub, and more across three solariums and two outdoor patios. Message us after booking for the discount details! ⭐ Need more space? The entire duplex—both units together—is available as the Teapot: airbnb.com/h/teapot. Looking for just the lower unit instead? The Tea House is listed here: airbnb.com/h/apptea.
